Moving into a new home is never as straightforward as we’d like it to be. We all have stories about moving house – some of them good, some of them bad, some of them downright bizarre.

There always seems to be the inescapable issue of dealing with items that previous home owners or tenants have left behind. Usually, it’s nothing more than an errant bag of trash that was left behind due to time constraints or laziness – we’re not sure which is more prevalent. Ocassionally, however, you’ll encounter something a little different when you begin unpacking your belongings in your new home.

We took to the Twitterverse and other social media platforms to find out what weird and wonderful things previous homeowners have left behind. As it turns out, weird is the prevalent adjective. Hardly anyone seems to find any real treasures to speak of. One person found a whole lasagne in their oven – possibly a feast the previous residents missed out on during their frantic packing – we’re not sure how we feel about an entire meal being left behind.

We’d like to think that most people take care to pack up all of their belongings before their move, particularly if they have some questionable belongings they wouldn’t want anyone to find. Anything NSFW should definitely be moved right on out of there, or tossed in the trash in some cases. We’re a little baffled by the brown velour covered log one of our contributors found in her home – definitely never heard of that before. All in all, this video serves to confirm that we’re all probably a little weird and there’s no escaping that fact.

What are some of the strange things you’ve found when moving into a new home? Any single shot glasses or empty eggbox collections lurking in your past?
