moving art

Art is a joy to own, but few people know how to move fine art once they have obtained it and as Jonathan Schwartz, President and CEO of Aterlier4 said “Art was not meant to travel.”

We don’t entirely agree with Mr. Schwartz but we do agree that whether you’re moving your art collection across town to your new home or wrapping up a treasure to be shipped to a buyer, the logistics of packing, shipping and installation require the expertise of art moving professionals.

Moving art presents unique challenges that are outside the sphere of ordinary movers. Each item requires the utmost care and packaging is often different from one artwork to the next. We are fully equipped to deal with the most delicate items and when moving art and shipping precious items we take the utmost care.

Spier Arts Trust trading as Yellowwoods Art recently appointed Monarch Relocations to move a mosaic commissioned by a Danish organisation from sunny Spier Wine Farm, Stellenbosch to rainy Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, representing the company’s logo, weighed in at 1.5 tons and measured 3 x 3 metres and needed to be custom crated.

It arrived safely at its destination on time and Danish Queen, Margrethe II was present at the unveiling. Testament to the fact that our specialised services ensure that all works of art are safely packed, shipped, and installed at locations anywhere in the world.
